Rocky Mountain Chapter
In Loving Memory of
Steve Gregory
Devoted Christian & Master Electrician
Steve was Known for His Warm Smile and Steady Demeanor
Steve Gregory, a devoted Christian, master electrician, and dedicated building/electrical inspector, left a lasting impression throughout Colorado and beyond through his commitment to faith, family, and his profession.
A man of faith, Steve’s Christian values guided his life, gave him compassion, helped him be humble, and showed generosity. He approached his work and relationships with a servant’s heart, always ready to lend a hand or share a word of encouragement. His faith was reflected in his dedication to his family, colleagues, and the community he served.
As the Chief Electrical Inspector for the City of Greeley, from 1991 until his retirement in March 2020, Steve demonstrated integrity, expertise, and a passion for ensuring safety and excellence in every project he oversaw. Steve was a cornerstone of Colorado and Greeley’s growth, ensuring that homes, businesses, and public spaces met the highest standards of electrical integrity and safety. His expertise in the National Electrical Code (NEC) was matched only by his commitment to teaching others. As an instructor for the Independent Alliance of the Electrical Industry (IAEI) Rocky Mountain Chapter and the Northeast Division, where he served as a board member, Steve shared his vast knowledge through many workshops across Colorado. Steves workshops were never boring, and he always provided humor, personal experiences, and great conversations during lunches and breaks. While in the field, with his signature Cowboy hard hat, he was always willing to drop his tailgate and open the code book to help every electrician understand the NEC more while also using common sense in every unique situation. His ability to make complex codes accessible and understandable inspired a generation of electricians and inspectors, leaving a legacy of professionalism and mentorship.
Steve’s impact extended far beyond his technical expertise. Known for his warm smile, steady demeanor, and willingness to listen, he built lasting relationships with colleagues, contractors, IAEI members and the community. His work ethic and attention to detail and safety was outstanding, yet he never lost sight of the human connections that made his career meaningful.
Though Steve is no longer with us, his light shines on in the safety of the electrical systems, buildings he inspected, and relationships he built. IAEI Rocky Mountain will continue using the great knowledge, tools, and teaching moments that he has passed on to us. It was a great privilege to teach, learn, and serve a community with him. The Electrical Industry, Colorado, and Greeley are all thankful for his service, and his memory will live on through IAEI and all who have known him.
Steve Gregory, a faithful servant, skilled tradesman, an amazing electrical mind, and cherished friend.
